I’ve been working on the DRIFT paperback formatting, and thought you all might like seeing pics I’ve taken of some of the locations described in DRIFT. Obviously, there’s a lot of pics out there of the Pike Place Market sign, but bear with me. :)
If you like this, you might also like my ShiftSeries board on Pinterest.
Hope you enjoy these!

Hubby: So completely unrelated, but VERY funny… Annie (Carrie’s cousin that helped on Saturday) was telling Carrie that for her flight back to Spokane, she had bought this book on her Kindle about people shapeshifting and dealing with teenage angst and whatnot…..completely unprompted to do so. Wanna take a guess as to what book it was?
Elle: No it was not
Hubby: seriously.
Elle: That’s awesome! Did Carrie tell her it was my book?
Hubby: Of course she did. “funny thing about that book….you may have met the author this weekend…”
This is so freaking cool! Annie (and Carrie) helped the hubby and I install new carpet in our bedroom this weekend! My writing never came up, and I don’t even think Annie knew our last name. It’s a small, small world! :)

I know that Drakes are actually just male ducks, but I still couldn’t stop myself from taking this picture while in Leavenworth last weekend. Drake: hehehe!
**Side note: Am I the only person who has this issue where Tumblr will not let me rotate a picture after I’ve uploaded it?! It doesn’t matter that this picture is saved right-side-up on my computer, it uploads sideways. Narg.

you’re in luck! I drew up a floor plan of it months ago, and just added it to the website the other day. Hope you like it!

…on the website this morning. This one is for Samantha and Harris King (Drake’s parents.) There’s less pretty pictures, but more meaty details in this one than in some of the others. Hope you like it!

Cecelia Elizabeth Brayton
Birthday: February 9th
Favorite Color: TurquoiseHobbies: Gardening, painting
Life Goal/Motto: Be present in all things.
Cecelia’s character was one that defined herself very early in the process when writing SHIFT. In regards to my characters (though not necessarily plot,) I am somewhat of an exploratory writer, so while characters often take time and writing to reveal themselves to me, Cecelia was an exception; most of Cecelia’s traits were fleshed out before writing even began. (Though she has revealed some surprises to me along the way!) Case in point, I knew Leah’s aunt lived in the rural/semi-rural desert from the very beginning. I knew she wore flowy skirts and big earrings. I knew she lived alone and had for much of her adult life (though some of the whys for that didn’t become clear until much later.) I knew she was grounded and very comfortable in her own skin. I knew she would see the Shifter trait as a gift, but would understand that coming to see it that way took time.
Cecelia is wise. She is calm, and present, and very hard to ruffle. That being said, she is also humble, and never does she judge another who is less calm, or less present than herself. She loves her role as Contact for her region, and takes the job very seriously. She enjoys mentoring others and taking new shifters under her wing, which is part of why so many younger shifters and their parents know Cecelia and rely on her (as we see in RECAST.) But while Cecelia finds enjoyment in the presence of others, she is also equally as content reading a book or working alone in her garden.
Readers will learn more about Cecelia, her past, and circumstances in STAND (Shift Series #4)

Tweeps make my day all the time, I swear! This was an especially good one because it arrived on a day I really needed it! I don’t post this stuff to toot my own horn—more as a thank you to the readers who make it awesome to be me, and keep me working hard to do what I do (and do it better!) Thanks Kristyne!

I am just now watching the third season of True Blood. We do not have HBO (I simply refuse to pay more for cable than I already do!) and until recently we didn’t have a terribly reliable way to watch pirated episodes from online on our TV (and the hubby and I huddling around a computer screen just wasn’t going to happen.) So, we’ve been slowly watching the seasons as they come out on DVD.
Anyway, can I just say that I am so so SO glad I had NOT watched this season (that this season hadn’t even come out yet!) before I wrote RECAST? When Russell Edgington made his proclamation on the national news at the end of the episode I watched last night, my jaw was on the floor! On the floor, I tell you!!
Now, that’s as far as I’ve gotten in the series, so no spoilers please! :) Gotta keep watching tonight to see what happens!
